Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Trimline Technologies ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, stores and protects personal information when you use our church mobile application and the services it provides.

1. App this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application listed on Google Play as PCEA Kirigiti (the "Kanisa" church app) and to the church services accessed through it.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to run the App and to manage your church membership:

• Account information: your name, mobile phone number (used as your unique member identifier together with your church member number) and, where you provide it, your email address.
• Church membership data: baptism and confirmation records, church group memberships, household relationships (spouse/children linked to your member record) and other membership details held by your church.
• Contribution and payment information: tithes, offerings, pledges and other contributions, including amounts, dates, vote heads and the M-Pesa receipt or checkout identifiers returned by the payment provider.
• Device and technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, and diagnostic or error logs used to keep the App working and secure.

3. Information we do not collect

The App does not collect or use:

• Precise or approximate location data from your device;
• Your contacts, call logs, SMS messages, photos, camera, microphone or files on your device;
• Advertising identifiers, and we do not serve advertising or sell data to advertisers;
• Health, biometric or financial account credentials.

4. App permissions

The App requests only the following Android permissions:

• Internet and network state: to communicate securely with our servers and to check connectivity before requests.
• Storage / package install: to download and install app updates that you choose to install.

5. How we use your information

• To create and manage your church member account and to identify you when you sign in;
• To provide App features and content such as sermons, live streams, events, announcements and the Bible reader;
• To record, receipt and report your church contributions;
• To send you notifications and announcements about church events, services and activities;
• To provide customer support and to respond to your requests;
• To monitor, troubleshoot and secure the App, and to detect and prevent misuse.

6. Payments and M-Pesa

Contributions are collected through M-Pesa (Safaricom) using an STK push request sent to the phone number you provide. We receive the result of the transaction (success or failure), the amount and the M-Pesa receipt number. We never receive or store your M-Pesa PIN. M-Pesa transactions are also governed by Safaricom's own terms and privacy policy.

7. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 on the basis of your consent, the performance of our agreement with you (providing the App and managing your membership), our legal obligations, and our legitimate interest in keeping the App secure and reliable. You may withdraw consent at any time as described in section 10.

8. How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only:

• With your church administration and authorised church staff, for membership management and contribution accounting;
• With payment processors, in particular Safaricom M-Pesa, to process your contributions;
• With Google Play Services, for app distribution, updates and crash diagnostics;
• Where we are required to do so by law, regulation or a valid legal request, or to protect our rights.

Our service providers process data only for the purposes we specify.

9. Data storage, security and retention

Your personal information is stored on our secure servers and transmitted using HTTPS encryption. Access is restricted to authorised personnel, and we regularly review our security practices. We keep personal data for as long as your member account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed to meet legal, accounting, audit or church record-keeping requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
• Restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time;
• Opt out of non-essential communications;
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya) at www.odpc.go.ke.

11. Account and data deletion

You can request deletion of your Kanisa account and the personal data associated with it at any time using the page below. Requests are actioned within 30 days; records that we are legally required to retain (for example, contribution records required for accounting) are retained for the required period and then deleted.

12. Children's privacy

The App is intended for adult church members and is not directed at children under 13. A church may register a member under 13 as part of a household with the consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without that consent; if we become aware that we have done so, we will delete the information promptly.

13. International transfers

Your data is primarily processed and stored in Kenya. Where a service provider processes data outside Kenya (for example Google Play Services), we take reasonable steps to ensure the data continues to receive an adequate level of protection.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be notified through the App.
